Come Learn the Hytek System and Other Things to Know

Come to the Mark Twain Pool tomorrow, Thursday 10/22, if you are interested in learning how to run the computer "Hytek" System5. This is the system that we use to run our equipment during swim meets. Patrick Doherty will be on hand to train us. This is a very important and necessary position during swim meets. We cannot run a meet effectively without a trained Hytek person. Please let me know if you are interested in learning this.

*A Few Notes*
  1. Don't forget to hand in your Swim A thon money to Erin Sherlock,Marianne Paoli, Debbie Fischer, or Andrea Velazquez.
  2. Swim Trials will be this Saturday at 9am. Ages 10 and under will begin at 9:30am. If your child is 10 years old or younger, regardless of what team they are on, please bring them in at 9am for warm up. Ages 18 and under must be at pool by 10am.
  3. Backordered bathing suits have arrived. I will be handing suits out after practices. DO NOT let your child wear their team suit to practice!!!

Meet This Saturday

This Saturday, 2/7 HOME vs. Harrison.

Please arrive by 8am for our warm ups. This is our final regular season meet!

If you cannot attend, please notify me ASAP!

Reminders: Swimmers are to remain on deck for the entire meet in uniform (NO bake sale until AFTER the meet!!) Make sure you eat a good breakfast-it's our last chance for fast times to be entered for Championships!

Avoid the DQ!
Please review the following information with your swimmer-we want to avoid unnecessary disqualifications!
1. NO flip turns in the 100 IM
2. Do not stand up in the shallow end during a race
3. In relays, wait for the swimmer ahead of you to touch the wall before you dive in!
4. In the butterfly and breaststroke, you need to touch the wall with TWO hands AT THE SAME TIME!
5. Backstroke flip turns: only ONE free pull is allowed, then you must flip and push off ON YOUR BACK!
6. Butterfly kick must be two legs together kicking-no flutter kick like in freestyle!
7. Breaststroke kick must be the only kick used-no flutter kick- the kick involves the "frog" kick then a glide.
8. The only time you can flip in the 200 IM is during Backstroke to backstroke, and freestyle to freestyle legs ONLY.
9. On the breaststroke pull out, you can only do ONE pull then ONE kick, then your head must surface and then you can begin the stroke.
10. Wait for the starter to say "take your mark" then wait for the "Beep!" Tune everything else out!
11. Backstrokers must finish on his or her back at the wall.

And remember:"If you do it in practice, you'll do it in a meet!"

  1. Please send water with your child for every practic and meet. The kids are doing a lot of physical exercise and need to stay hydrated!

Also, swimmers who don't compete in the trials March 1st through 4th will not be able to compete in the finals on Marth 8th. As always, let Julie know if your child will not attend a meet.
  3. Those who will be going to the 12/u Distance Meet in Rye will be notified of their inclusion before the meet.
  4. There will be a fun meet this Saturday from 10 AM to 12 PM. The team will compete for prized and generally have a good time.
  5. The practice schedule will be modified during the winter break(February 16th - 21st). Julie will provide details later. In the meantime, however, note that practices will likely be during the day because access to the pool at night is not available.
  6. There will be a small fee for admission to the finals. Further details will be available later.
